Return to the 100 Innovations in Payments.

The deal-of-the-day concept gained popularity with the launching of Woot.com in July 2004, although Woot itself was a modified version of earlier dot-com bubble sites such as uBid.

According to IBIS total US daily deals sales were $3 Bn in 2013, however this growth has waned. The former daily deal giants, Groupon and LivingSocial are altering their business platforms to focus on other areas to increase their sales.

According to Dataotuan the Chinese flash sales revenue was ¥ 10.3 Bn (USD 1.7 Bn) during 2014 Q1 in a sector.
