Portugal Registers Decrease In Banknote Fraud
The Portuguese Central Bank (Banco de Portugal) has announced a decrease in the number of false banknotes being aprehended in the country. The number of total fake banknotes dropped to 11,400 in 2012, from 15 841 in 2011. The bank continues to promote anti-fraud initiatives and welcomed the launch of the new €5 banknote, which will make it harder to falsify the banknote.
