TfL Denies Contactless Bus Fare Double-Charging
Transport for London (TFL) is denying accusations that passengers who chose to use their NFC-enabled debit or credit cards to pay for their bus fare were also being charge through their Oyster card. Shashi Verma, director of Customer Experience at TfL issued a statement declaring it was impossible for customers to be charged twice. “When a contactless payment card and an Oyster card are presented simultaneously to an Oyster reader, bundled together in a wallet or purse for instance, the reader will reject the tap and no payment will be taken from either card,” Verma explained.
