Virtusize Launches In The UK

A startup business, named Virtusize, launched its virtual fitting room solution in the UK through a partnership with online retailer, ASOS, reports TechCrunch. The startup began with a six-month trial that was deemed successful, and followed with a complete rollout with a “Fit Vitualiser” button featured on parternship websites. The button can be found on the UK ASOS’ website next to each garment for over 2,000 products, with more to come in the near future. Unlike other virtual room startups, Virtusize uses a 2D garment-comparison method to allow the online shopper to visualize how the clothing item will fit in comparison to other clothes they own.

Virtusize explained the technology is meant to help the customer see how the item will fit and not how it will look on them because details such as cut and color are easier to view on the Internet. Virtusize operates by asking the online shopper to enter measurements of a garment they have at home, or they have the option of ‘tagging’ the garment online, and the technology will automatically store the measurements. The customer is able to view both garments’ transparent silhouettes to determine how the garment will fit. Virtusize has plans to expand into the ASOS US market soon.
