Report: 70% Of German Consumers Use Comparison Portals

A recent survey conducted by Gfk for comparison shopping site, Check24.de, reported that more than 70 percent of German consumers use comparison websites when shopping for products or services, reported eCommerce Facts. Fifty-seven percent of Germans compare prices in person at the physical store, and 15 percent compare products indirectly based on word-of-mouth from family and friends.

Twenty-five percent of Germans conduct comparison research on their mobile phones or tablets. The most common category that is researched for comparison is holiday bookings. The study found that men (60 percent) are on comparison sites more often than women (52 percent). Eighty-six of participants indicated they used several comparison methods to retrieve information.
