The New ATM Uses Mobile and Barcodes, Takes Away Cards

NCR Corp. has deployed new software for ATMs that allow transactions to be initiated using a mobile device and a barcode scanner, rather than a card and a pin.

The new form factor is able to complete a transaction in less than 10 seconds, the company says, and does not require any new hardware at the ATM.

NCR has not yet partnered with any companies to pilot the new technology, and is actively seeking such a relationship.
