Groupon Extends Groupon Payments To Android App

Groupon has extended its swipe-and-dongle Groupon Payments platform to its Android application, reports TechCrunch.

Groupon Payments originally launched in September, but was available only for iOS devices. In addition to allowing card transactions via smartphones, the Groupon Payments app enables Groupon deal redemption, barcode scanning, email receipts and other features.

Groupon Payments’ fee structure sits at 1.8 percent for Visa, MasterCard and Discover swipes, plus 2.3 percent when a card is keyed in and $0.15 per transaction. American Express pricing is variable depending on a company’s “industry category.”
