Google, Payments Firms Work Towards Blocking Funds To Illegal Download Sites

Google is in discussions with Visa, MasterCard and PayPal about blocking funding to sites that offer illegal downloading, reports Finextra. 

Blocking funds could be viewed as a simpler alternative to the method Google uses, which involved alerting its own search results to obstruct access to the sites. Visa, MasterCard and PayPal have previously taken similar steps to cut off funding to sites such as Wikileaks, the article notes.
