Report: Amazon Makes 2.5M Price Changes Daily

A new report from Profitero finds that Amazon conducts more than 2.5 million prices changes per day, the online pricing data firm reported in a December 11 press release.

The 2.5 million changes represent a significant difference between Amazon and traditional brick-and-mortar retailers, which make an average of 50,000 price changes each month.

According to Profitero co-founder and CEO Volodymyr Pigrukh, the data suggests that Amazon has the infrastructure needed to compete with offline retailers as well as online ones.

“It’s staggering that Amazon.com is making millions of price changes on a daily basis. The sheer scale of these price changes demonstrates why brick-and-mortar retailers need to be using an advanced online price intelligence solution if they want to compete with Amazon,” Pigrukh said.
