NRF Comes Out In Favor Of Marketplace Fairness Act
The National Retail Federation has come out in favor of the Marketplace Fairness Act, which would allow taxes to collect sales tax from online retailers.
“As e-commerce and m-commerce continue to increase in market share, it’s time Congress allows all retailers to compete on the same playing field,” said David French, senior vice president for government relations at the NRF.
The bill was reintroduced to congress last week, and will allow small businesses who do less than $1 million in out-of-state sales a year to apply for an exemption. States will be required to simplify their tax codes before the bill is implemented, notes BankCreditNews.com.
