Target: Swipe Fee Settlement Is “Bad” for Retailers, Consumers

22 July 2012

Target Corp. expressed its strong dissatisfaction with the payment network swipe fee settlement through plain language in a recent release.

“Target believes the proposed interchange fee settlement is bad for both retailers and consumers,” the statement reads. “The proposed settlement would perpetuate a broken system, restrict retailers from any future legal action and offer no long-term relief for retailers or consumers.”

Target also said it would not charge higher prices to consumers who pay with a credit or debit card.
