Cuba Tests Convertible Peso Debit Card System

Cuba has begun an experimental program allowing consumers to use debit cards at “dollar stores” though a convertible peso system.

Due to Cuba’s unique dual-currency system, Cubans have to convert their pesos at exchange houses before shopping at the stores.
