Square Acquires Personal Payments App Evenly

Evenly, the company behind a popular personal payments app, is shutting down to join the Square team, Square announced on its website on December 11.

According to Payments Source, the Evenly team will work with Square on seller-oriented projects. Both companies declined to comment on the transaction or divulge the details of the purchase to the media outlet.

The Evenly team posted a farewell message on its website, thanking customers for 18 months of involvement and support.

“At Square, we’ll help make commerce easy for millions of buyers and sellers. We’ll tackle huge challenges alongside so many talented engineers and designers,” the message read. “Together, we’ll continue to bring simplicity, transparency, and immediacy to commerce. We’re thrilled about the opportunity ahead!”

The message also added that the Evenly service is expected to be discontinued on January 15.
