Starbucks: 30% Of U.S. Transactions Come From Starbucks Cards
Starbucks sees 30 percent of its U.S. transactions come via the physical or mobile versions of its stored value Starbucks Card.
The coffee giant also sees 25 percent of its transactions come via its loyalty program, which it launched just a few years ago. Starbucks revealed the statistic at the Jefferies Global Consumer Conference on June 18.
“We had significant success in reaching our customers digitally, significant benefits both in terms of cost, but also the halo that comes from providing these opportunities around payment methods and loyalty to the customer,” said Troy Alstead, CFO and CAO.
Alstead also noted that mobile payments now comprise over 10 percent of Starbucks’ U.S. transactions. Alstead praised mPayments as “a very sticky transaction by virtue of the fact that people have preloaded their money that we hold for them in anticipation of that coming transaction.”
