Study: mCommerce Surges 63% Since 2009

A new study shows that mobile commerce has surged 63 percent in the past five years.

The survey, released by Cheil Worldwide, also revealed that 40 percent of smartphone owners made a purchase with their device sometime in 2013.

Another 55 percent opted to use their phone to buy a product in a store, The Drum reported on Feb. 11. Forty-six percent relied on their phones to research potential purchases online.

As Market Platform Dynamics CEO Karen Webster suggested in a recent commentary, the expansion of the mobile commerce ecosystem — supported by growth in mPayments use — will continue to shape how consumers make purchases. See what she has to say by clicking here.
