…And New Balance Uses RFID Chips in Boston

New Balance is using RFID technology to draw customers into its “Experience Store” location in downtown Boston.

RFID-enabled prize cards distributed on the streets of Boston sync up with an RFID-enabled video display and hotspot within the store, RFID Journal explains.

On April 16 — the day of the Boston Marathon — the company distributed 6,000 such prize cards. A company spokesperson says the campaign resulted in a “significantly positive response.”
