Mobile Payment Adoption: Which Countries Beat Out the U.S.?

A study by ACI Worldwide offers a new term to identify the world’s most enthusiastic smartphone users — the “smartphonatic” — and quantifies the number of “smartphonatics” living in each country around the world.

India and South Africa are home to the largest percentages of “smartphonatics,” ACI says, with the U.S. coming in at a roughly 20 percent ratio. In India, 76 percent of consumers use some form of mobile banking, the study suggests.
