comScore: 100 Million Smartphones in U.S.

The number of U.S. smartphone users passed the 100-million mark earlier this year, according to comScore.

Its latest study says 101.3 million Americans use smartphones, up 13 percent since October. Based on average results from the three months ending in January, comScore estimates 234 million Americans age 13 and older use mobile devices.

Google’s Android operating system nearly has majority market share; 48.6 percent of all smartphones run Android. Apple is second, with 29.5 percent market share, comScore says.
