RBS, NatWest Announces Contactless Visa Card Rollout
RBS and NatWest have released plans to issue two million contactless Visa cards to U.K. consumers within the next year.
“Many major merchants like Marks & Spencer, the Post Office and London's buses are now accepting contactless payment as the service becomes a high street reality,” said Mark Austin, vice president, contactless at Visa Europe. “We are expecting to see contactless transaction volumes quadruple in 2013 as momentum in this exciting space continues to grow."
There are currently around 30 million contactless cards in the U.K. and 50 million in Europe, according to Finextra.
