An agreement between banks, credit card companies and telecoms as to how contactless payments in Canada ought to work “appears to be coming soon,” a report from Reuters says.

David Robinson, head of the emerging business team at Rogers Communications Inc., thinks his country leads the globe in contactless adoption preparedness. "In Canada, we are more ready than probably any country in the world," he says.

Robinson tells Reuters he expects a mobile wallet to become available to Canadian consumers “within six months.”
