PayPal Signs Contract With U.K. Government For I.D. Assurance Service

PayPal has signed a contract with the U.K. government to help with a secure online identity registration platform for people accessing public services, notes Finextra.

The service, titled the Identity Assurance Programme, will be run by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), and will also support The Post Office, Cassidian, Digidentity, Experian, Ingeus, Mydex and Verizo as providers.

Claimants using the service will be able to pick which of the eight providers they’d like to validate their identity through before processing online claims.
