New Security Element from GlobalPlatform Protects NFC Use

A new security product from GlobalPlatform prevents unauthorized applications from accessing a mobile device’s NFC capabilities, according to NFC World.

Each NFC-enabled device contains a secure element, which stores the deviceholder’s sensitive information. "Failure to restrict access to the SE communication channel could result in a fake wallet application popping up during a SE-based transaction that could send the wrong, or too many, commands to the SE," explained GlobalPlatform’s Christophe Colas.
