MasterCard Partnership Brings Mobile Payments to Rural Mexico

A pair of Mexican commercial entities is working with MasterCard to deliver mobile payment solutions to the nation’s rural consumers.
Banorte, the country’s third largest bank, and Telecomm Telegrafos, a government-run telco operation, are working with MasterCard to operate “MiFon,” a new mobile-based financial service powered by SMS technology.
