Barbra Streisand Sings Elizabeth Warren’s Praises

October 24, 2011

Democrat Elizabeth Warren, who will oppose incumbent Sen. Scott Brown (R-MA) in the upcoming Senate election in the Bay State, appears to be a hit in some celebrity circles.

Barbra Streisand will co-host a fundraiser for Warren, along with TV legend Norman Lear, Danny DeVito, Rhea Perlman and other Democrat supporters in Hollywood, according to the Boston Herald.

“In the last several years, there has been one new, consistent and strong voice that has broken through the oftentimes murky and ineffectual cacophony about the economic problems facing our nation. That voice has been the voice of Elizabeth Warren,” Streisand wrote in an emailed statement to Politico. “She has advocated passionately, brilliantly and forcefully in defense of a strong middle class.”

Acknowledging the race against Brown will be “hard-fought,” Streisand said Warren “offers voters the best possible champion they could have in the United States Senate.”

“She combines the pragmatism and common appreciation for American values from her Oklahoma upbringing, with a stellar career teaching at Harvard Law School,” the singer wrote. “If only we had more just like her!”
