Another Google Wallet Exec Out

January 27, 2012

AllThingsD broke the news Thursday evening that Vikas Gupta, Head of Consumer Payments at Google, has signed out.

“I can confirm that Vikas has left Google and we wish him all the best in his future endeavors,” a spokesman said.

Gupta, who reported to Google VP of Payments Osama Bedier, was a key player on the company’s payments team and had been managing their Google Wallet mobile payment program. He came on board at Google 18 months ago after the search engine giant bought his company Jambool, a virtual goods payment platform, for a reported $55 million. Prior to Jambool, Gupta worked at Amazon.

Gupta’s resignation is the second major shakeup on the Google Wallet leadership team within a week.

“A spokesperson declined to say if the division was undergoing a wider restructuring, but last week, I reported that Google’s VP of Commerce Stephanie Tilenius was moving into a more global position,” reports Tricia Duryee of AllThingsD. “And, as part of that, Bedier will be taking on a larger role within Google Wallet, though his title will not be changing.”
