French Smartphone Users In Favour Of Mobile Payments

Paypal has conducted a study on the mobile habits of French consumers. The study revealed that 72% of French smartphone users are in favor of mobile payments. A similar percentage of French consumers have heard about mobile payments and 11% think they the future of payments.

Paypal’s study also revealed the growing presence of the company in the country: with 5 million active users and 28.000 French retailers choosing Paypal as a payment method. The numbers also point to an extraordinary growth of mobile commerce in France, exploding in the first three months of 2012 with a 195% increase. Paypal predicts that in 2012 their global mobile transactions alone will account for 10 billion dollars.

As Karen Webster observed earlier this summer, Paypal has already put its mobile mark in France by introducing mobile payments at some McDonalds locations. With such favorable opinions of mobile payments among French consumers, it can be easily said that Paypal will be further exploring the payments market in France.
