MoneyGram International saw its stock price increase by 6.54 percent over five days of trading last week, apparently pleasing investors with news that it would expand its direct-to-account and cash-to-account services to 30 additional countries.
Two major prepaid issuers — Green Dot and NetSpend Holdings — also enjoyed strong stock gains, despite a lack of major corporate announcements. Green Dot stock saw a 7.22 percent gain, the largest in payments for last week, while NetSpend stock appreciated by 4.99 percent.
Visa stock also went up, by 5.53 percent, in a week where the Dow Jones lost about one percent of its value.
