Prepaid International Forum India, an influential payments-focused trade association, has opened its membership to include mobile operators, a move that acknowledges the importance of telecom companies in deploying financial services solutions across the country, Finextra says.
Amit Sethi is Managing Director of India and Southeast Asia for TSYS, and a co-chairman of PIF India. His research recently showed that more than 70 percent of Indian consumers have little or no access to banking services, while more than 800 million consumers use mobile phones, at least a third of which reside in rural areas.
