Barclays Launches Instant Mobile Payments Feature

Barclays Pingit, Barclays’ mobile app, now allows users to send mobile payments using their mobile phone number rather than a bank account channel, the company reported in a November 19 press release.

The new feature includes instantaneous payments and SMS notifications, as well as detailed transaction access within the Pingit app.

“Consumers today want quick and convenient ways to receive value. Mobile payment provides a fast and secure way to do this without the need for consumers to disclose their account number,” Mike Walters, the company’s head of U.K. corporate payments, said in a statement.
