Facebook’s Charity Payments Play

Facebook has officially announced “Donate,” a new feature that will allow users to give money to non-profits through its website, TechCrunch reported on December 17.

Core to the feature is that it will collect user credit card and payment information that the media outlet notes could be used to help Facebook with its eCommerce initiatives.

Nineteen non-profits will begin using the button on their Facebook Pages and News Feed Posts, including the World Wildlife Fund, UNICEF and Boys and Girls Club of America.

Early reports, however, indicate that users are experiencing difficulties entering their information to the service. For more on this development, read the full report here.
