France Institutes Waiting Law For On-Demand Car Services

French consumers who use Uber or LeCab, two popular on-demand transportation services, may be left waiting at the curb for 15 extra minutes thanks to a new national law, TechCrunch reported on December 28.

Framed as a means to protect traditional taxi services, the French government is requiring that on-demand car services to wait 15 minutes before allowing a customer to enter the car after the initial booking.

According to TechCrunch, several of the companies that do business in France plan to contest the law.

Earlier this year, Uber CEO Travis Kalanick noted in a Facebook post that the user experience is paramount to other aspects of a mobile service. Learn more about what he meant by clicking here.
