Google Wallet Finally Launches For iPhone

Google Wallet has launched a version of its digital wallet app for iPhones on the Apple App Store, the company announced on Thursday.

Per Google Wallet’s Android update two days ago, the app allows users to transfer money to friends, add and store loyalty cards and find and save discounts with Google Maps, Google Search or Google Offers. Google Wallet will initially only be available for iPhone users in the U.S.

As VentureBeat notes, the app’s version number is 2.0.10206, even though it’s the first release for Google Wallet on iOS. According to the news source, this may indicate that Google has had to rework this app before earning Apple’s approval.

VentureBeat also notes that this means Google has released a digital wallet app for the iPhone before Apple, whose Passbook app does not directly work with money.
