Orange Money Allows Visa Payments In Botswana

Bostwana’s Orange Money and Visa announced Orange Money customers are now able to access money 24 hours a day through ATMs, at the point of sale, or when making online purchases through retailers that accept Visa transactions.

Botswanna is the first country to adopt this new program. At present, Orange Money subscribers can use their mobile phones to facilitate money transfers to any mobile phone subscribers domestically and internationally, purchase airtime or make bill payments.

“This is a significant milestone in Visa’s strategy to drive financial inclusion and we are excited to be launching this service with Orange in Botswana. The program will contribute to the mobile money revolution in Africa, enabling many more people to access the benefits of the formal financial system,” stated Visa’s head of digital solutions for emerging markets, Hannes Van Rensburg.
