Apple Adds Buy-It Buttons to iAd

Apple is getting extra savvy with Apple Pay by incorporating buy-it buttons into Apple’s iAd mobile advertising platform.

These new buy-it buttons will be embedded in mobile advertisements, which will allow users to quickly and seamlessly make a purchase via Apple Pay.

Currently, Apple Pay users can make purchases in-store and within third-party applications by authenticating via Touch ID.

The new incorporation of buy-it buttons within iAd ads is pretty genius for the simple fact that it’s just another way to generate dollars for Apple Inc.

But it doesn’t stop there.

According to DigiDay, a new retargeting tool will also complement the buy-it button, to allow marketers to retarget users in order to persuade purchase completion. The new feature is reportedly set to launch before the end of 2014, allowing advertisers to really take advantage of and benefit from this coming holiday retail rush.

Since the initial rollout of iAd back in 2010, Apple has been progressively expanded its offerings by expanding availability, dramatically reducing advertising fees and incorporating and tying in other services on the iPhone, i.e., permitting advertisers to feature “Add to Passbook” buttons for coupons, therefore allowing an increase in coupon retention.

The “Add-to-Passbook” feature is extremely stimulating to advertisers because it enhances the possibility of closing the sale.

“The mobile experience has transformed the shopping experience, and the ability to understand what consumers are doing on an aggregate level [with iAd] is very powerful for brands.” – Jeff Malmad, Managing Director of Mobile at media agency Mindshare

Apple also introduced full-screen interstitial and pre-roll video iAds back in August of this year.
