First Data Brings On Christopher Augustin As Chief Information Officer

Payment technology and services solutions firm First Data announced this week that it had brought on Christopher Augustin as its new chief information officer. According to a company press release, Augustin will take charge of First Data’s software development work, engineering processes and software and application development strategy.

Previously, Augustin was the CIO and senior business advisor at Marked Private LLC. While there, he was responsible for designing and architecting the private messaging and social networking site for immediate market acceptance and future business growth.

First Data President Guy Chiarello said in the company release that Augustin is a “key addition” to the organization’s leadership team and that he will help accelerate “innovation and deliver cutting-edge solutions to help our clients grow their businesses.”

“Chris’ broad experience and creativity, ranging from startups to large financial institutions, will guide our extensive development, conversion, and implementation efforts and maintain First Data’s position at the forefront of a dynamic and competitive industry,” Chiarello said.

Augustin explained that “the most important asset [at a company] is always the creativity and vision of its people,” and that First Data is no different.

“I’m excited to be part of this transformation and new chapter at First Data. Supporting our customers and our clients requires us to be forward looking and innovative as we aggressively leverage our existing technology base and pursue new, advanced technology solutions.”
