Fiserv Brings Banking To Google Glass

Fiserv has rolled out its mobile banking for devices.  The banking technology company recently demonstrated mobile banking via Google Glass and Samsung’s Gear smartwatches.

The roll out coincides with Fiserv’s ambition of recruiting additional customers to its developing mobile platform—currently only 10 million of the company’s 60 million online customers use mobile functionality, leaving 50 million left to recruit, according to corporate math.

“We see enormous growth,” he says. “It’s not a market that’s close to peaking,” said Fiserv SVP and general manager of digital channels Jim Tobin, reports ZDNet.

The  new GoogleGlass functions include total usability on the wearable device, with a phone only need for connectivity. Users can check balances and make payments via voice command, though some uses may be limited by device capacity.

With the wearables integration, users can do more on the go—the company has recently announced a partnership with a U.S.-based credit union that will allow users to apply for car loans entirely on mobile, using only a snapshot of a license plate.  The wearables function will also allow users to voice navigate through banking features. For example, customers can state “I want to pay a bill,” and the app will guide them directly to the bill pay center.
