Guatemala Brings mPOS to Central America

Guatemala will be the first Central American country to offer m-POS, with Tigo launching its product.

49% of SMEs (which comprise 97% of all companies in the country) would accept the solutions if it were offered to them. The project, currently under pilot, will launch in two steps.

First, mPOS, VisaNet affiliation, printer and e-invoice will be deployed. After that, billing and inventory services will be offered. The pilot showed merchants already know how to use the system.

“We want to help Guatemalan firms to develop thus we created easy-to-acquire products which help them become more competitive. This is a product that changes the way of doing business in Guatemala and which bring new opportunities to everybody” said Elvin Reyes, Manager of New Product Development, Tigo Business.
