Intuit Offers Photo Bill Pay

Mobile bill payment is now available from Intuit’s bill pay app Check. Intuit acquired Check in May for $360 million. The acquisition was just the latest related to company moves to expand its offerings into payments.

With the new app, paying bills can be done quicker, explained an American Banker article. Instead of tapping in data, customers can use their smartphone’s camera to scan the bill, choose how to pay and then either pay the bill or schedule it out.

Intuit had been testing the capability for the Android platform and is pushing the update out to tens of thousands of Android users this week, reported the news source.

Intuit’s announcement coincides with U.S. Bancorp and BBVA Compass’ move to  offer their own versions of the mobile photo bill pay feature, which all banks perceive to be part of their retention and acquisition digital efforts.
