Midwestern University Picks eProcurement Option

Michigan State University announced last week that it chose ESM Solutions for its eProcurement needs. According to an ESM press release, MSU wanted a more streamlined eProcurement process, and felt that the cloud-based spend management company was the best option.

Specifically, ESM is expected to implement its easyPurchase technology, which will integrate with MSU’s Kuali Financial System (KFS). The partnership will also help MSU create a stronger end-user experience, allowing the university’s eProcurement system to work with its financial software.

“After understanding the university’s requirements and needs, I felt we were the right fit for Michigan State University,” ESM Solutions Vice President of Sales and Business Development Anthony Rotoli said. “Our easyPurchase solution will empower MSU’s efforts to improve their current procurement process by creating additional efficiencies and savings.”

Procurement issues are hardly a new problem for colleges and universities to tackle. In June, PYMNTS.comreported on how several schools in Iowa were concerned over a new funding model. While some proposed changes for a better procurement process could be beneficial, the three schools under review feared the change could also result in staff cutbacks, larger class sizes and contract cuts with local vendors.
