Minnesota Twins Test Snapshot Credit Card Application

Minnesota Twins fan? PYMNTS.com is officially sorry, it’s been a tough season.

On the upside, Minnesota baseball fans looking to distract themselves from the Twin’s last place standing in the AL Central division and 48-58 win record with a little retail therapy now have a new, easy and innovative way to apply for a credit card. The credit card even advertises the holder’s status as a Twins fan.

The Twinkies have partnered with U.S. Bank to deliver a Minnesota Twins Rewards MasterCard. To apply, interested parties only need a driver’s license, smartphone and a Bostonian/Chicagoan tendency to love a team without regard to how often they win.

Using technology from Mitek, information needed to populate the card application is captured with a snap of a photo.  Applicants can then proof-read their app, verify or make changes, and add in the handful of details necessary that aren’t on a driver’s license.

“The technology improves an applicant’s user experience by eliminating the need to type in much of the required information, helps increase data accuracy, and improves security over paper processes,” said Dominic Venturo, chief innovation officer, US Bank Payment Services, reported Finextra.

The Twins, though happy enough to work with Master Card to issue the Twins Rewards Card, have nonetheless joined a class action lawsuit against MC that accuses the credit card company of price gouging.
