Samsung Taps Coupons.com For Mobile Offers

Samsung has landed a deal with Coupons.com that will put itself as the first mobile payments carrier to use its own digital wallet to redeem the site’s online coupons in stores, VentureBeat reported.

Samsung Wallet — available on Galaxy S III, Galaxy S 4, Galaxy S 5, Galaxy Note, Galaxy Note II, Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy Note 4, and the Samsung Gear S smartwatch — will allow companies to have coupons used across Samsung’s market of more than 20 million devices in the U.S., the report said.

VentureBeat breaks down how the system works: “Users select coupons from the Card Linked Offers page at the Coupons.com site. The coupon value is first credited to a MasterCard, Visa, or American Express in the user’s Samsung Wallet and then subtracted from the purchase amount when the user pays with Samsung Wallet.” Samsung also has a deal with Valpak for coupons through its digital wallet.

This may give samsung an edge this holiday season as VentureBeat also reported that the “National Retail Federation says that 56 percent of smartphone users will use their mobiles devices to assist them with holiday shopping this year.”
