Square Launches Register App Platform

Payments provider Square announced Thursday (Oct 23) the launch of Square App Marketplace, a tool designed to make using third-party integration of other management tools more seamless for Square sellers by having easier options to customize and operate their business.

This one-stop-shop for merchants follows the software program launch last spring that extended Works with Square, a program launched to connect Square customers with more tools for their businesses. The new Square App Marketplace aims to connect businesses better with the tools needed to manage everything from accepting payments, tracking finances and running the backend of an office.

Though the marketplace app that works with Square Register — the company’s platform for POS for payments, inventory and analytics — it will also allow developers to have the ability to bring their apps the Square sellers.

The launch of its software program integrated programs like Intuit QuickBooks, Xero, Stitch Labs, IFTTT, TaxJar, SumAll, Fresh KDS, Shopseen, and ShipStation and the marketplace app aims to synch the data for those programs. Overall, the new app is geared toward brining independents businesses more effective, efficient way to manage and locate tools for running the day-to-day tasks of a business under one roof.

“Through Square App Marketplace, we have access to lots of different tools that work together to help our business run smoothly,” Nicole Yeary, president and founder of Ms. Tech said in a news release from Square. “We discovered SumAll through Square, and now we use it to track social metrics alongside our paid invoices. We use QuickBooks for accounting and IFTTT to automatically log all transactions in a Google spreadsheet. Access to these integrated apps lets us see the full picture and boosts our confidence in day-to-day operations.”
