World Bank To Release Procurement App

Citizens of the world interested in seeing what projects the World Banks is paying for, where the projects are happening, how they are being paid for and where exactly the money is coming from will soon be able to download and application that provides all that information and more.  Ths week will see the launch of a mobile application that will give users access to comprehensive procurement data from 2004 to 2014.

“What we wanted to do was to be able to provide you the procurement information that the bank had with an easy reach [so] that you did not necessarily need a masters in statistics in order to be able to do an analysis,” according to Joao Veiga Malta, practice manager at the bank’s Governance Global Practice, reports Devex.

At launch, the app will only be available to iOS users, though an Android version is reportedly in the works.  The app also doesn’t quite offer comprehensive data just yet.  Billing notices have been left out and users can’t search awards by firm.
