Another Day, Another Mobile Dining App

In just about every culture, dining takes on a special meaning in the community and in the family. And in just about every culture, waiting for the check after a luxurious meal can throw a wrench into an otherwise decadent experience.

PaidEasy wants to change that.

Digital Trends reported that PaidEasy, a restaurant mobile payments startup, officially launched Tuesday (Nov. 17) to streamline how diners pay for and finish their meals at qualifying restaurants. Instead of relying on servers to input and monitor orders, PaidEasy links up to in-restaurant point-of-sale systems to update tables’ orders in real time. When it’s time to head home, users can simply choose how they’d like to split the bill and pay in seconds, all within the PaidEasy app.

Gregg Jackowitz, CEO of PaidEasy, explained in an August statement that because the app relies on location-aware technology to tell where customers are in participating restaurants, it can even charge them when they get up from their tables and walk out the door without ever actually opening the app.

“Uber has set a gold standard in terms of payments,” Jackowitz said. “Customers not only want a frictionless experience, they expect it.”

While customers should see clear benefits to using PaidEasy over traditional check payment methods, restaurants, too, can work more effectively with the app, Payment Week noted. By freeing up waitstaff from constantly checking on parties that, for all intents and purposes, have finished their spending for the night, employees can reroute their attention to other tables that need it without worrying about whether diners are finally ready to settle their bills.

As of Thursday, PaidEasy is only available in New York City, but if things go well in the Big Apple, the startup has plans to expand to Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Miami and even Johannesburg, South Africa.
