Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s Expand Same-Day Delivery

Macy’s is expanding same-day delivery to nine new markets for Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s retail and online stores this month, bringing the total to 17 cities.

The same-day delivery option, which would cost a flat $5 extra in addition to the standard ground shipping charges, will now be offered in Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Honolulu, Las Vegas, Miami, New York City, Orange County and Philadelphia.

“When we piloted same-day delivery in eight markets initially last fall, we learned that our customers appreciate the additional option of having their purchase brought to their home or office in a matter of hours,” said R.B. Harrison, Macy’s, Inc. chief omnichannel officer. “It is an important part of our value proposition as an omnichannel retailer serving customers who shop our stores and websites whenever, wherever and however they prefer.”

To power its expanded same-day delivery network, the company has reportedly partnered with Deliv, a crowdsourced delivery company.

“Our ability to expand same-day delivery is rooted in local merchandise inventories at Macy’s stores, as well as a newly expanded delivery footprint of our partners at Deliv,” he said.

Currently, Deliv is also offering pickup service for online purchases being returned to Macy’s or Bloomingdale’s website. For scheduling returns, customers can authorize and set up a pickup time from home or work, the company said.
