Antuit Tackles Supply Chain Innovation in Singapore

As business-to-business operations become more technologically savvy within their operations, B2B solutions providers must also create up-to-date services for buyers and suppliers. Managing the supply chain has become an especially challenging issue with the globalization of B2B business.

But Big Data solutions firm Antuit is looking to facilitate the development of new supply chain management solutions in Singapore with its latest partnership. The company announced a new collaboration with the Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech), run by A*STAR, last week in the form of the Antuit-SIMTech Supply Chain Analytics Lab.

The companies revealed that the partnership will foster supply chain solution innovation over a two year period thanks to the $1.8 million investment from the firms. The Lab, which will be hosted at SIMTech, will explore emerging supply chain challenges and develop ways Big Data analysis can solve those problems. Reports say the companies plan to focus on supply chain visibility and predictability, demand forecasting, risk mitigation and the use of Internet and communications technology to improve the function of the global supply chain.

SIMTech Executive Director Dr. Lim Ser Yong said the collaboration will aid businesses in the crucial ability to manage their supply chains. “Technology is a key driver for productivity improvement, catalyzing the development of solutions that provide industry with a competitive edge,” he said. “A*STAR research institutes such as SIMTech are avenues for SMEs to effectively use technology to improve productivity and capture business opportunities.”

According to the new partners, innovative supply chain solutions can lead to benefits 5-10 times greater than today’s traditional offerings.

“The quality and diversity of available data, when coupled with new tools and greater expertise, will fundamentally transform data-led decision making in the next three to five years,” said Antuit CEO and founder Arijit Sengupta. “This is particularly true in the supply chain arena where approaches and technologies have not evolved significantly over the last five years.”

Innovative technologies such as the cloud have led to increased supply chain visibility, though some companies are grappling with the immense flow of Big Data pouring in, without solutions to aggregate and analyze that information. Recent research revealed that companies are still widely using outdated supply chain management tools.
