Corporate travel and expense management firm Sabre is targeting Mexican business customers for its latest service. Reports released Tuesday (Nov. 24) said the company is working with virtual payment partner Conferma to release Sabre Virtual Payments for business travel in Mexico.

It’s a solution, the companies said, that will provide corporate travelers in Mexico with the ability to use virtual cards for their spending needs. Sabre noted that the virtual payment technology will help protect corporations against payment fraud and boost the automation of expense report reconciliation.

“The effective management of a corporate travel program is becoming increasingly complex, and virtual payment services are a huge opportunity to deliver buyers an efficient workflow with automated processes and better data integration,” said Salim Arkuch, Sabre’s General Director in Mexico. “Sabre Virtual Payments is a form of payments that allows agencies, TMCs and corporations to deploy virtual prepaid card numbers, securely created at the time they shop and book for business trips.”

The virtual card solution allows businesses to set controls over employee spending. As a tool for use in Mexico, Sabre noted that all transactions are processed in Mexican pesos, allowing companies to bypass transaction and exchange fees.

Sabre added that the solution can also be used with its GetThere corporate travel booking platform. Sabre first integrated its virtual payments settlement and payment tool with GetThere earlier this year.

Research released earlier this year by Corporate Spending Innovations pointed to Sabre’s virtual payments technologies in a case study of corporate adoption of e-payments, finding that one executive reported significant decreases in fraud and noncompliance related to corporate travel spend.
