Revel Steps Into The Back Office

Revel Systems is heightening its presence in companies’ back offices. The company announced Thursday (Dec. 8) that it is launching Insights by Revel, a solution that aggregates the data from its front-office iPad point-of-sale service to offer real-time analytics on business performance.

The software app will be available to existing customers of its POS product and aims to enable business owners to monitor the health of their companies remotely.

“Insights by Revel delivers key, real-time data insight for our clients about their business performance, no matter where they are, at any time,” said Chris Ciabarra, cofounder and CTO of Revel Systems. “Owners and managers can oversee labor remotely and even detect who worked overtime, who missed a shift and solve the problem immediately, managing overall cost.”

The solution also supports demand forecasting by analyzing data on sales, payment, labor and other metrics. Insights by Revel provides reports that can be customized for business owners to gain insight into a specific metric and have multiple ways of viewing data.

“We are taking our clients’ businesses to the next level by providing them with information and data that will improve their go-to-market and operational strategies,” Ciabarra continued. “We are most concerned about how our clients are improving and growing their businesses, and this app is helping them take the next step.”

The launch of the app follows similar moves by other front-office POS companies, like Square, to increase their presence in the back office through analyzing data received by the POS system.

Revel raised $13.5 million in funding last year from ROTH Capital Partners. The investment aimed to boost Revel’s plans for international expansion.
