Janney Montgomery Scott LLC (“Janney”), one of the nation’s largest full-service regional financial services firms, is pleased to announce the hiring of Jeff Smith as Senior Vice President and Branch Manager of the Firm’s Washington, D.C. office.

With over 20 years of industry experience, Smith—a skilled and well-known leader in the greater D.C. area—will be tasked to lead the Firm’s expansion in the Capital Region, as Janney continues to establish itself as the regional firm of choice for Financial Advisors, industry professionals and affluent clients. Smith will report directly to Regional Manager James Dornan.

A graduate of Towson University, Smith began his career in the financial services industry in 1990 as a Financial Advisor. Moving quickly into a management role, by 2004, he had joined Legg Mason as the Director of Sales for the Central Division, where, in addition to several divisional roles, he managed their Tyson's Corner office. Following the acquisition of Legg Mason by Citi Smith Barney, Smith was tasked with merging the Legg Mason office with the Smith Barney office in Alexandria, Virginia, and later, overseeing both the legacy Smith Barney/Legg Mason office and the Morgan Stanley office, following the Morgan Stanley Smith Barney union.
