The announcement of Ken Paull as ROAM’s CEO last week signaled that Ingenico was taking its focus on mobile to a whole new level. In his first interview since being appointed as ROAM’s new CEO, Ken Paull described the synergies between Ingenico and ROAM as giving it the ability to “leverage [Ingenico’s] distribution channel worldwide in order to accelerate speed to market for our channel partners who are looking for an end to end mobile POS solution.” Paull makes the case for mobile as a transformational move in the point of sale space for merchants large and small, adding that “it is not about coexistence with existing systems but really morphing them into a new mobile world.”
Paull makes the mobile commerce distinction between POS acceptance side and consumer payments, reiterating ROAM’s focus on the former, and hinting at its collaborative approach to delivering solutions that its partners can make their own. He states that “we’re hearing from our partners that speed to market is critical, in addition to being able to make a solution their own and differentiate and leverage their customer base.” Paull adds that “although you don’t see ROAM’s brand so much out in the market, we are the largest behind- the brand- technology out there, especially for those competing against Square.”
The podcast interview which can be downloaded here also addressed the biggest challenges being faced by channel partners worldwide around mobile commerce in a market that is moving as quickly as this one is.
